Environmentalhazardsareoftentoogreatforparticularcountriesorindividualstotackle.Wehavearrivedatapointintimewheretheonlywaytolessenenvironmentalproblemsisataninternationallevel.Environmentalproblemshavereachedsuchproportionsthatpeoplefeelinternationalorganizationsmustbesetuptointerveneinworldaffairstoresolvetheseproblems.Whetherthiswillresolvetheproblemisveryunlikelyasinternationalorganizationsarejustanextensionofhumanbehavior.Thatis,ifhumanconflictscannotberesolvedathome,thentheyareunlikelytoberesolvedattheinternationallevel.Nevertheless,internationalorganizationsdoattractattentiontothegrowingproblemofaimsoftheinternationalcommunitytoresolvetheissueofenvironmentalpollutionandsupporttheircause,Idonotbelieveitisthebestoronlywaytoprotecttheenvironment;infact,itisonlyasmallpartofwhatisneededinaglobalinitiative.Allworldproblems,whetheritisenvironmentalpollution,war,energyinsufficiency,orfamine,arisefromtheabusivebehaviorofallindividuals.Therefore,thesolutiontoalltheseproblemsistheneedforacollectiveconsciousness.Whatismeantbythisisthateachindividualmustbeawareoftheimpactheorshehasontheworldandtheiruniqueparttoplayinthisworld.Afterall,ifoneishappywithhislife,hewillsurelynotendeavortoharmtheenvironmentoranyoneelse.Hisbehaviorwillbethatofaresponsibleindividual.Whatisneeded,therefore,iseducation.Educationisthekeytoallproblemsanditstartsfrompregnancyallthewaytoadulthoodandbeyond.Furthermore,educationmeansthatchildrenallovertheworldshouldbeallowedtogotoschoolswithgoodteachersandwhereteachingmaterialsandmethodscanbeadaptedtoeachindividual.Educationmeansraisingchildrentoberesponsibleindividuals.Thismaysoundlikeutopia,butitisnot:ifacountryhadimportantproblemsinitseducationalsystem,thenitshouldrealizethatitiscontributingtotheworld’sproblems.Theseareperhapslongtermsolutions,buttheyaremorerealisticsolutionsthansettingupyetanotherinternationalorganization.
