When cancer cells invade lymph nodes, the tight junction protein (claudins) between cells may change. The research team injected siRNA into human breast cancer cell line MCF-7 to knock down claudin-4 mRNA and conducted laboratory in vitro and in vivo studies to explore the correlation of lymph node metastasis. The results showed that the injection of siRNA to knock down claudin-4 mRNA released the contact between cells and enhanced cervical lymph node metastasis (66.7% more tumor cells than the control group). This study revealed that the decrease of claudin-4 mRNA not only promotes the migration of breast cancer cells, but also affects the incidence of lymph node metastasis.Keywords: claudin-4 mRNA, breast cancer, lymph node metastasis.
