The organic complexation copper-tin wastewater is one of the typical industrial wastewater with high complexity and toxicity. In this study, FeS was selected as the adsorbent material for the treatment of organic complexation copper-tin wastewater. The basic characteristics of FeS were studied, including the morphology, crystal structure, surface area, and functional groups. The effects of FeS dosage, initial pH, contact time, and initial concentration of Cu and Sn on the adsorption performance were investigated. Furthermore, the mechanism of removal was explored by analyzing the surface properties, FTIR spectra, and XPS spectra of FeS before and after adsorption. The feasibility and efficiency of the proposed method were evaluated in the experiments. The results showed that the FeS had a high removal efficiency for both Cu and Sn, and the optimal conditions were obtained as follows: FeS dosage 1.5 g/L, initial pH 7.0, contact time 90 min, initial Cu and Sn concentration of 80 mg/L, and 90% and 83% of Cu and Sn were removed, respectively. The mechanism of removal was mainly due to the surface complexation and precipitation. The proposed method provided a simple and effective solution for the treatment of organic complexation copper-tin wastewater.Keywords: FeS; organic complexation copper-tin wastewater; adsorption; mechanism.
