In this study, SiO2 supported silver composite antibacterial agent was used to modify cotton fabrics to improve their antibacterial performance and color fastness. Firstly, SiO2-Ag composite was prepared by co-precipitation method on SiO2 carrier, and then SiO2-Ag/CMC-Na composite antibacterial agent was prepared by combining SiO2-Ag composite with carboxymethylcellulose sodium (CMC-Na) by Breuning method. Finally, the cotton fabrics were treated with SiO2-Ag/CMC-Na composite antibacterial agent, and their antibacterial performance and color fastness were tested. The results showed that the SiO2-Ag/CMC-Na composite antibacterial agent had good antibacterial performance and color fastness, and had little effect on the mechanical properties of cotton fabrics. Therefore, this composite antibacterial agent is expected to be widely used in the textile industry.Keywords: SiO2 supported silver composite antibacterial agent; modification treatment; antibacterial performance; color fastness; textile
