Forty healthy adult cats were randomly assigned to four groups, receiving intravenous injections of 0.9% saline, atropine, dexmedetomidine, or chlorpromazine. Thirty minutes later, anesthesia with isoflurane was induced in cats, and the isoflurane concentration, induction time, respiratory rate, heart rate, and oxygen saturation were recorded. The results showed that compared with the control group, cats receiving atropine had a shorter induction time, slower respiratory rate, and faster heart rate, while cats receiving dexmedetomidine had a lower isoflurane concentration and shorter induction time. The anesthetic effect was weaker in cats receiving chlorpromazine, and the isoflurane concentration needed to be increased. These results may provide certain references for the selection of pre-anesthetic medications in cat surgery anesthesia.Keywords: cats; isoflurane anesthesia; pre-anesthetic medication; atropine; dexmedetomidine; chlorpromazine.
