A heatwave event refers to the meteorological phenomenon in which the surface temperature is significantly higher than normal levels in a specific period, causing significant impacts on human production and living. The atmospheric precursor signal refers to the meteorological factors that affect future weather forecasting, and research on the atmospheric precursor signal can improve the prediction and response capacity to extreme weather phenomena such as heatwaves.This paper first introduces the definition, causes, and characteristics of heatwave events, and explains their manifestation and impact in China. Secondly, the paper describes the concept and types of atmospheric precursor signals, focusing on their role in heatwave events. Finally, through the analysis and discussion of relevant literature, this paper summarizes the current status and trends of research on heatwave events and atmospheric precursor signals, looks forward to the future, and proposes issues that need to be addressed.Keywords: China, Heatwave events, Atmospheric precursor signals, Research.
