Moreover, comparative discourse markers are ubiquitous in spoken and written language, and have been extensively studied by scholars in various fields. However, little attention has been paid to the translation of comparative discourse markers by Chinese English majors, who are the future professional translators and language teachers. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the translation of comparative discourse markers by Chinese English majors from a corpus-based perspective.Objectives:The objectives of this study are to:1. Investigate the types and frequencies of comparative discourse markers in English and Chinese corpora.2. Analyze the translation strategies adopted by Chinese English majors in translating comparative discourse markers.3. Examine the effectiveness of the translation strategies and identify the potential problems and challenges.4. Provide practical suggestions for improving the translation competence of Chinese English majors in dealing with comparative discourse markers.Methodology:This study will adopt a corpus-based approach, using a parallel corpus of English and Chinese texts collected from various sources, such as academic papers, news articles, and novels. The comparative discourse markers will be identified and classified based on their semantic and pragmatic functions.
