This study mainly focuses on the design, synthesis, and application of non-aromatic sulfonic acid surfactants. First, the research status and significance of non-aromatic sulfonic acid surfactants are introduced. Secondly, the influence of the type and structure of sulfonating agents on the solubility, surface activity, and thermodynamic properties of non-aromatic sulfonic acid salts is analyzed, and it is pointed out that the design of sulfonating agents is of great significance for the synthesis and application of non-aromatic sulfonic acid surfactants. Furthermore, the synthesis methods of non-aromatic sulfonic acid salts are discussed from the aspects of synthesis pathway, synthesis conditions, and synthesis process, and a sulfonation reaction method that can be carried out at room temperature is proposed, which is simple, environmentally friendly, and efficient. Finally, the oil-water separation performance, surface tension, and viscosity of non-aromatic sulfonic acid salts are experimentally studied, and the results show that the synthesized non-aromatic sulfonic acid salts have good solubility, surface activity, and oil-water separation performance, which can effectively improve the efficiency of oilfield development.Keywords: non-aromatic sulfonic acid salt; sulfonating agent; synthesis method; performance evaluation
