The hippocampus is an important lesion site in TLE, and hippocampal CA1 neuronal apoptosis may be related to the development of TLE. This study aims to explore the expression of apoptosis-related molecules in the hippocampal CA1 region of TLE and its significance. Through literature review and experimental research, it was found that the neuronal apoptosis in the hippocampal CA1 region of TLE patients is related to multiple factors, such as GABAergic neuronal injury, glutamate activation toxicity mechanism, mitochondrial dysfunction, etc. In addition, abnormal expression of some genes and proteins has also been reported to be related to hippocampal CA1 neuronal apoptosis, such as the Bcl-2 family, caspase family, BDNF, etc. The imbalance of these molecules leads to the occurrence of inflammatory reactions and cell apoptosis, thus participating in the development of TLE.
