By discussing the differences between China and the United States in terms of language comprehension, family concept, marriage concept and interpersonal relationship, this thesis shows the conflict between Chinese and American culture. Finally, through the study of The Joy Luck Club, we can know that communication is the necessary condition for understanding and integration in the case of cultural differences between China and the United States.
