The Cultural Handbook of Enshi summarizes the unique cultural characteristics of the region, especially the language, customs, and beliefs of the local ethnic groups. As English has become a global language, it is essential to translate the cultural handbook to promote Enshi’s cultural heritage to the world.Objectives:The primary objective of this practice report is to translate ethnic specific vocabulary in the Cultural Handbook of Enshi into English effectively. This research will focus on analyzing the cultural features of Tujia and Miao ethnic groups and identifying the special terms related to their culture. The report will also examine the difficulties and challenges encountered during the translation process and discuss the strategies for addressing them.Methodology:This study is conducted in two stages. In the first stage, we will collect materials related to Enshi and Tujia and Miao ethnic groups. We will analyze the cultural characteristics of these groups and identify the specific terms that require translation.In the second stage, the identified terms will be translated into English using different approaches, including literal, functional, and conceptual translation.
