In tobacco production, the application of base fertilizer and controlled-release potassium fertilizer is one of the key factors. In this study, flue-cured tobacco was used as the research object, and the effects of different base fertilizers (organic fertilizer, inorganic fertilizer, and organic-inorganic compound fertilizer) combined with controlled-release potassium fertilizers (chitosan-coated controlled-release potassium fertilizer and ordinary controlled-release potassium fertilizer) on tobacco growth and quality were studied. The results showed that compared with the control group, the combination of different base fertilizers and controlled-release potassium fertilizers can significantly improve tobacco growth indicators and yield; at the same time, different combinations of fertilizer formulas have different effects on tobacco quality indicators (such as leaf thickness, nitrogen content, tar content, etc.).
