This study aimed to investigate the effects of different iron oxides (Fe3O4 and FeOOH) on soil cadmium availability and rice cadmium accumulation. Three treatment groups were set up, including a control group (CK), a Fe3O4 treatment group and a FeOOH treatment group. The results showed that both Fe3O4 and FeOOH had certain reducing effects on soil Cd availability, among which FeOOH treatment group had a significantly lower soil Cd availability (P <0.05). In terms of rice cadmium accumulation, both Fe3O4 and FeOOH significantly reduced the cadmium content in the stems and roots of rice (P <0.05), and the reduction effect in FeOOH treatment group was more significant. The mechanism of the effects of different iron oxides on the soil cadmium availability and rice cadmium accumulation deserves further research.Keywords: iron oxide; soil cadmium availability; rice cadmium accumulation; Fe3O4; FeOOH
