The study found that the funeral ceremony is a symbolic system. Through the ceremony, the living express their mourning and respect for their deceased loved ones, and channel their emotions to alleviate their grief. The deceased extend their existence through the ceremony and ensure that they are preserved in beliefs and family memories. The interaction between the living and the dead is a complex cultural phenomenon and is influenced by various factors such as geography, religion, and society.
