The themes of her poetry often revolve around her personal experiences, including love, separation, and loss. However, the interpretation and translation of her ci in English have been challenging due to the differences in language and cultural context.In this study, we aim to compare and analyze the English translations of Li Qingzhao's ci from the perspectives of theme and thematic orientation. Through this analysis, we hope to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges associated with translating Chinese poetry and to identify the complex relationships between theme and thematic orientation.Methodology:To achieve the aim of this study, we will use a comparative analysis approach. We will select a sample of Li Qingzhao's ci, preferably those with themes related to love, separation, and loss. We will then gather different English translations of the selected ci from various translators and sources.Our analysis will focus on two main aspects: the themes presented in the original Chinese version and the thematic orientation of the English translations. We will use thematic analysis to identify the key themes presented in the original text and compare them to the themes presented in the English translations. We will also use Halliday and Matthiessen's Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) theory to analyze the thematic orientation of the translations, which refers to the way in which information is distributed across the text.Discussion:精品文档---下载后可任意编辑Based on our analysis, we expect to find differences in the way themes are presented in the original Chinese versions and in the English translations. By comparing and analyzing different English translations of Li Qingzhao's ci, we hope to highlight the challenges involved in cross-cultural translation and provide insights into the relationships between theme and thematic orientation.
