The streptozotocin-induced diabetic mouse model is one of the commonly used models in diabetes research. The purpose of this study is to investigate the early changes in retinal neurons of streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice. The study found that the number of retinal neurons in streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice decreased, and the length and number of neuron dendrites also decreased. Further immunohistochemical experiments confirmed that synaptic connections and axonal synthesis of retinal neurons were also affected in streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice in the early stage of the disease. These results reveal the details of early changes in retinal neurons of streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice, providing a theoretical basis for the prevention of diabetes complications.【Keywords】Streptozotocin; Diabetic mice; Retinal neurons; Synaptic connections; Axonal synthesis.
