However, non-English major students usually face various problems in vocabulary learning due to their limited exposure to English language compared to English major students. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the vocabulary learning strategies and problems faced by non-English major students in vocabulary acquisition. [Introduction] Vocabulary plays a crucial role in language learning, as it allows learners to communicate effectively and accurately. As English has become a global language, it is necessary for learners to acquire an adequate amount of vocabulary to be able to understand and produce English effectively. However, non-English major students usually face several challenges in vocabulary learning due to various reasons, such as limited exposure to English language, lack of motivation, and insufficient time and resources. [Research Questions]Based on the above concerns, the following research questions are formulated:1. What are the common vocabulary learning strategies used by non-English major students? 2. What challenges do they face in vocabulary acquisition? 3. How can these challenges be overcome? [Methods]To explore the above research questions, a mixed-methods research design will be adopted. A questionnaire survey will be conducted to investigate the vocabulary learning strategies and problems faced by non-English major students in vocabulary acquisition. The sample will consist of 100 non-English major students from a Chinese university. The questionnaire will comprise the following sections: 1. Demographic information 2. Vocabulary learning strategies 3. Problems faced in vocabulary acquisition 4. Suggestions for improving vocabulary learning The data obtained from the questionnaire will be analyzed using descriptive statistics to identify the common vocabulary learning 精品文档---下载后可任意编辑strategies used by non-English major students, and the challenges they face in vocabulary acquisition. In addition, semi-structured interviews will be conducted to explore the reasons behind the results obtained from the questionnaire. Five students will be selected for the interviews, based on their responses to the questionnaire. The interviews will be recorded, transcribed, and then analyzed using thematic analysis to extract the main themes that emerge from the data. [Conclusion]In conclusion, this study aims to investigate the vocabulary learning strategies and problems faced by non-English major students in vocabulary acquisition. The findings of this study can help educators in designing effective vocabulary learning activities and providing appropriate feedback to improve students' vocabulary acquisition.
