This study aims to investigate the scope, type, and influence of L1 negative transfer in English writing of high school students in China.Methodology:The research will be conducted using a quantitative approach based on a survey methodology in which an online questionnaire will be distributed to a sample of high school students. The participants will be selected from several high schools in different regions of China. The questionnaire will consist of items that measure the scope and type of negative transfer in English writing among Chinese high school students. Data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics techniques.Expected Results:This study aims to provide insights into the nature and scope of L1 negative transfer in English writing among high school students in China. The findings of the study are expected to help improve English teaching strategies and enhance the quality of English writing among Chinese high school students.Conclusion:L1 negative transfer in English writing is a pressing concern for both English teachers and students. This study aims to investigate the influence of L1 negative transfer in English writing among Chinese high school students using a survey methodology. The study is expected to contribute to the understanding of how L1 negative transfer impacts English writing and provide insights into English teaching strategies that can reduce or eliminate the negative transfer effect.
