In this way we can achieve our goals and live a happy life. (诚实) Honesty is to people what water is to fish. Valued as a traditiona l virtue, honesty can help to strengthen the trust between people, thus leading to a harmonious society. Not long ago, I accidentally broke Mary’s best-loved bottle. Desp ite the fact that no one would know the truth if I denied it, I made up my mind to apologize to her, for I was brought up to know that honesty is a virtue we can never ignore. I thought she wo uld be really angry and blame me. However, to my surprise, she forgave me for my being honest, which established myself as a reliable person. Since then, our friendship has strengthened. As the saying goes, “Honesty is the best policy.” Honesty serves as a bridge through which people get to know each other. Only when we are ho nest with others can we be rewarded with trust and respect from others.
