Therefore, improving listening skill contributes to promote English communication skill. People have tried lots of methods to improve English listening skill. However, they have not investigated the real reason why English listening is so difficult, and they take it for granted that practicing more extensive listening can improve their listening skill. It is unreasonable, because listening is one part of English learning which has close relationship with other parts. Reasons that English listening is difficult can be discussed from several aspects: unstable basic knowledge including pronunciation, vocabulary and background knowledge; lacking of listening skills including poor prediction skill, slow response speed and poor short-time memory skill; and lacking of adequate psychological preparations.
