AbstractAs one of the basic rights protected by the Constitution, liberty of the press plays a significant role in the contemporary society governed by the rule of law. Meanwhile, the Constitution provides that the general right of personality and specific right of personality of citizens are protected as basic rights. The improper practice of the liberty of press leads to the press infringement of rights, which inevitably infringes upon the basic human rights of citizens. Yet, the mere emphasis on the private rights of citizens will hinder the proper exercise of the freedom of the press. It has been a common issue discussed by the people studying laws and people from the press and media on how to reach a balance between the freedom of the press and the private rights of citizens, that is, to fully exercise the liberty of the press without any infringement of the citizens' right of personality. This article sets forth the manifestation and social significance of its violation.
