That works out as 65 different jars, tubes and bottles, each worth £30.22 on average. But less than a sixth of these – £327 worth – are used regularly, with the women surveyed admitting a fifth of their stash had never even been opened. Instead, they rely on the same 11 products each day. But they said they couldn't bring themselves to throw out the unopened products – worth around £200 – in case they were needed for a special occasion. One in eight had spent even more on their beauty collection, with nearly £3,000 worth of products stockpiled in their bathroom cabinets. And 3 percent had almost three times the average, confessing that the contents of their bathroom cabinet were worth more than £5,000. Some of that will have been sitting in the cupboard for years. While most women said they cleared out their bathroom cabinet each year, one in eight admitted they only do it when they move house, and a quarter kept products for up to three years. And their collections keep on growing. More than one in ten women confessed to buying a beauty product they didn't need at least once a month.
