ITHE APPLICATION OF THINKING MAPS TO SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL’S ENGLISH WRITING TEACHINGABSTRACTAccording to new Curriculum Standard for Senior High School English (2017 edition), writing is one of the five English language skills that senior high school students should obtain. Writing, as a productive technique, can reflect students’ comprehensive ability in using English. At the same time, it is important to cultivate students’ thinking quality by English writing teaching. However, previous studies on writing practices in China reveal that most senior high school teachers spend a lot of time in imparting English writing knowledge to students and putting emphasis on grammar teaching and correction. Many problems, such as the irrational structure and the unreasonable content in students’ writing, still remain unresolved. Thinking Maps is a common visual language and each figure reflects different kinds of thinking procedure. Using Thinking Maps can lead learners to think in a clear way and improve the layout of their writing. However, the usage of Thinking Maps in high school classroom is still not common. The research participants are 96 senior one students from Senior High School attached to Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai. The research methodologies are English writing tests and questionnaires. This study aims to investigate the application of Thinking Maps in senior high school’s English writing teaching. In order to achieve this purpose, there are two research questions:1.
