After facial nerve injury, due to neuronal damage and inflammation, the expression of neurotrophic factors is inhibited, which leads to neuronal regeneration and loss of function. In recent years, CBD (cannabidiol) in cannabis has been proven to promote the expression of neurotrophic factors and neuronal regeneration by regulating neuronal signaling pathways and reducing inflammation. This paper explores the mechanism of CBD on neurotrophic factor-induced neuronal regeneration and functional recovery after facial nerve injury. The study found that CBD can promote the release of neuronal neurotransmitters by activating CB1 and CB2 receptors, catalyzing the elongation of neuronal growth cones, and also regulating physiological processes such as inflammation, oxidation, and apoptosis.
