This study aimed to investigate the effects of SFN on the proliferation and apoptosis of human liver and gastric cancer cells and its possible mechanisms. We used MTT cell viability assay, cell cycle analysis and flow cytometry to determine tumor cell proliferation, while TUNEL and Annexin V/PI double staining were used to detect tumor cell apoptosis. In addition, we will investigate the mechanism of SFN in human liver and gastric cancer cells, including activation of protein kinase C (PKC), mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and nuclear factor kB (NF-kB).This study is expected to draw the following conclusions: SFN can inhibit the proliferation of human liver and gastric cancer cells and promote their apoptosis; the mechanism of SFN may involve pathways such as PKC, MAPK and NF-kB. These results may provide basic data for SFN as a novel tumor treatment drug.Keywords: neurotrophic factor; liver cancer; gastric cancer; proliferation; apoptosis
