It involves driving a series of SSPs into the soil, then excavating the soil between the SSPs to create a trench. The trench is then filled with concrete to create a permanent foundation structure. However, one of the critical aspects of the SMW construction method is the pulling resistance of the SSPs during the excavation of the soil. The pulling resistance of the SSPs directly affects the stability of the trench walls and the safety of the excavation workers, making it a crucial factor to consider during the design and construction stages. The objective of this research is to perform a finite element analysis (FEA) of the pulling resistance of the SMW construction method SSPs. The FEA will be used to investigate the influences of different soil conditions on the pulling resistance and to optimize the design of the SMW construction method. Methods:The research will be conducted using ANSYS software, a powerful tool for FEA in engineering analysis. The SSP model and the soil model will be constructed using 3D modeling techniques. To simulate the actual construction process, the SSP will be initially driven into the soil, and then the soil between the SSPs will be excavated. The excavation force will be applied to the SSPs to simulate the pulling resistance. The ANSYS simulation will be run with different soil conditions such as sand, clay, and gravel, and the results of the pulling resistance under each soil condition will be compared. Results:The results of the FEA will provide a better understanding of the pulling resistance of SSPs in different soil conditions using the SMW construction method. The optimization of the design parameters of the SMW construction method will be conducted based on the obtained results. Conclusion:This research aims to provide an insight into the behavior of SSPs during the SMW construction method, assisting in the optimization of the design process. FEA is an effective way to predict the pulling resistance of SSPs under various soil conditions. The results of this research will help to ensure the stability and safety of the trench walls during construction.
