Previous studies have shown that high-calcium dialysate (HCD) could exacerbate arterial calcification and stiffness in HD patients. Therefore, low-calcium dialysate (LCD) has been recommended for patients at high risk of CVD. However, the effect of LCD on arterial distensibility has not been well studied. X-strain is an emerging ultrasound technique that can accurately assess arterial distensibility, which is a sensitive indicator of arterial stiffness. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the early effects of LCD on arterial distensibility using X-strain technology in HD patients. Methods:This study will be a randomized crossover trial involving 30 HD patients who will be allocated to either HCD or LCD for 4 weeks each, with a 4-week washout period between the two phases. Arterial distensibility of the common carotid artery (CCA) and internal carotid artery (ICA) will be evaluated using X-strain before and after each phase.Expected Results:It is hypothesized that LCD will improve arterial distensibility of the CCA and ICA compared with HCD, indicating reduced arterial stiffness associated with LCD. The results of this study may provide evidence for the use of LCD in HD patients to prevent and manage CVD.Conclusion:This study will evaluate the early effects of LCD on arterial distensibility of HD patients using X-strain technology. The results may provide insight into the optimal dialysate calcium 精品文档---下载后可任意编辑concentration and contribute to the prevention and management of CVD in HD patients.
