This study aims to compare and analyze the translation of school mottoes in Chinese and Western universities through the method of equivalence theory, and explore how to achieve the best translation result. This paper will use qualitative research methods to explore the challenges and difficulties of translating school mottoes through literature analysis and expert interviews. Empirical research results show that the translation of school mottoes in Chinese and Western universities needs to consider cultural background, language characteristics, and meanings.
