Language and culture are also regarded as a system of signs and symbols that convey meaning. In this study, semiotics is used to analyze the cultural significance of Chinese home-style dishes and the challenges faced when translating them into English.Objectives:1. To investigate the cultural significance of Chinese home-style dishes through semiotic analysis.2. To identify the difficulties in translating home-style dishes into English while maintaining their cultural meaning.3. To explore the potential solutions to overcome the difficulties in translating home-style dishes into English.Methodology:The study will employ a qualitative research approach. The data will be collected by conducting a thorough review of relevant literature, which includes both academic and non-academic sources. Additionally, interviews with native Chinese speakers and non-native English speakers who have experienced difficulty with the translation of Chinese dishes will be conducted.
