This is where the sociological study of semiotics comes into play.Semiotics is the study of signs and symbols and their use and interpretation in communication. Language and culture are also regarded as a system of signs and symbols that convey meaning. In this study, semiotics is used to analyze the cultural significance of Chinese home-style dishes and the challenges faced when translating them into English.Objectives:1. To investigate the cultural significance of Chinese home-style dishes through semiotic analysis.2. To identify the difficulties in translating home-style dishes into English while maintaining their cultural meaning.3. To explore the potential solutions to overcome the difficulties in translating home-style dishes into English.Methodology:The study will employ a qualitative research approach. The data will be collected by conducting a thorough review of relevant literature, which includes both academic and non-academic sources. Additionally, interviews with native Chinese speakers and non-native English speakers who have experienced difficulty with the translation of Chinese dishes will be conducted.
