The translation of English films is becoming increasingly important, especially English film titles. A good translation of English movie title can make the film icing on the cake and plays an important role in promotion of the new film. However, it is a pity that present studies of English film title translation are more from the perspective of Functionalism, Skopos theory, Contextual Adaption and Cross-cultural communication. Few studies analyze it from a macro-scopic view and put forward a systematic principle to guide English film title translation, which leads to excessive translation, mistranslation and omission.
