At that time Forrest Gump was not only a movie, but also a phenomenon of culture. This paper mainly analyzes American traditional values from five aspects such as individualism, optimism, pragmatism, religion values and family values. It describes each character from their words and their experiences of life, which reflects different values from them. Audiences can know the movie intuitively. After researching, American traditional values have a vital role in American life. It influences Americans and Americans formed their own unique way of life.
