Creation of online volunteering website to integrate various resources—Project Summary for VT volunteer studies group (COSE102)1. Research Our project intends to create a more standardized, convenient and safer volunteer website that hosts a myriad of volunteer opportunities for public. It tackles specifically at the current haphazard volunteer industry and general public’s difficulty in finding volunteer activities. Through this website, our team hopes that Chinese volunteer industry would be more organised and public can have stronger passion towards volunteering, which really helps resolve some key social issues in China such as hunger in rural areas. 2. About the project(1) Our project has a total of 6 phases, starting from August 2024 and is still ongoing.Phase 1: Read books and gather information (Aug 2024- Sept 2024), Phase 2: Interview teachers and schoolmates (Sep 2024-Oct 2024), Phase 3: Hand out survey to public and analyse data (Sept 2024- Oct 2024), Phase 4: Establish websites and try hand-on volunteering activities (Nov 2024-Dec 2024), Phase 5: Analyse the results, survey, publish daily notifications onto public platform, and write our research findings. (Late Dec 2024- Jan 2024), Phase 6: Promote our website national wide, contact and cooperate with more volunteer organizations and website designers (Feb 2024- Present)(2) Our project’s success can be measured by the scale of our website created, such as the number of participants registered and organizations joined, and the degree of interest public is showing, as evidenced by level of public involvement in our e-platform. (3)The biggest difficulty we met is the difficulty to contact IT engineers and to promote our projects in a national scale at first. Thus we decide to create an experimental website on our own and contact local volunteer organizations. Surprisingly, it was well-advocated and attracted IT engineers’ interest in upgrading our websites and adding additional functions.3. Impact and futureIn the future, we hope that some of the most prestigious organizations such as Red Cross group would also cooperate with us, which would provide us with more volunteer opportunities. We also intend to contact some IT engineers to upgrade our websites to be more intelligent so that people can directly register through the website without downloading the registration form. If possible, we also want to create an App, which enable personalized volunteer registration and publication services to both individual and volunteer organizations so that the volunteering can be processed at a much higher efficiency.
