Unit 1 Festivals around the worldFestivals节日和庆典是人类历史上重要的活动。例如，中国的中秋节是在农历八月十五。此节日庆祝满月之美和秋天丰收。在这个时候，家人和朋友们聚在家里，赏月和吃月饼。复活节是全世界基督徒的节日，庆祝耶稣基督回归人间。最令人兴奋的庆祝活动应该是西方的狂欢节，狂欢节期间，人们身穿各种艳丽的服装，在街头游行、跳舞。清明节期间，许多中国人去扫墓并烧香，以纪念逝者或他们的祖先。在墨西哥，亡灵节是一个非常重要的节日，食品被做成颅骨形状，或上面装点有“骨头”。在西方的节日万圣节前夕，孩子们都装扮起来去邻居家要糖果吃。当得不到满足时，孩子们有可能捉弄邻居。在我国所有的传统节日中，春节无疑是最大、最重要的。这天，一家人团聚在一起，同享天伦之乐，共迎春天的到来。There is no doubt that of all the traditional Chinese festivals, the Spring Festival is the greatest and most important one.To celebrate the festival, people began to prepare for it several days in advance. They clean their houses, make different kinds of food and buy lots of fireworks. Big red lanterns are hung in front of the doors. On the eve, red couplets and the Chinese character Fu(福) are posted on doors and walls which symbolize happiness and good luck. The festival is a time for all family 1members to get together to have reunion dinner. At the dinner，the most popular food is jiaozi. After the dinner, people watch the Spring Festival Evening Gala, a performance on CCTV loved by almost everyone. When the clock strikes 12 at midnight, people set off fireworks which is one of the most favorite ways of celebrating the Spring Festival.On the first day of the Spring Festival，people wear their new clothes and early in the morning they go to visit the old and their friends to wish good luck to one another.
