However, once fired in the cabin of the ship, the consequences would be disastrous. Therefore, the ship's fire fighting system should get sufficient attention. This paper is based on "ship design practical handbook (turbine volume)” and actual characteristics of 64000DWT bulk carrier. In this design, water fire extinguishing system, carbon dioxide fire extinguishing system and pressure water-spraying fire extinguishing system are selected. First of all, three fire-extinguishing systems’principles are designed. Then, associated pumps, valves and related accessories are selected. The pump’s flow, pressure and the required number of carbon dioxide cylinders are calculated.
