The basic principle of the correlation method and its application in fault detection are discussed in detail. In the experiment, a highly coherent broadband light source generated by an ASE light source is used to combine with a certain number of WDM signals to form a large composite optical signal. Then, by analyzing the power spectrum of the composite optical signal, the fault point in the optical network can be directly detected, and the fault detection can be achieved. The advantages and disadvantages of the correlation method and its applicability range are analyzed, and future research directions are discussed.
