However, the cracking of C8 hydrocarbons into lighter fractions is required for their effective utilization. The catalytic cracking of C8 hydrocarbons on acidic zeolites has been extensively studied due to their high activity, selectivity, and stability. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the catalytic cracking of C8 hydrocarbons on acidic zeolites and to understand the mechanism of the reaction.Objectives:1. To synthesize acidic zeolite catalysts with appropriate properties for C8 hydrocarbons cracking.2. To investigate the effect of reaction parameters such as temperature, pressure, and catalyst loading on the cracking of C8 hydrocarbons.3. To analyze the product distribution and selectivity of the reaction.4. To determine the reaction mechanism and kinetics of the cracking reaction.Methodology:The catalysts will be synthesized by the hydrothermal method using appropriate precursors and templates. The zeolite structures will be characterized using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and nitrogen adsorption-desorption analysis. The catalysts' acidity will be measured using temperature-programmed desorption of ammonia (NH3-TPD) and their surface area and pore size distribution determined by BET method. Catalytic cracking of C8 hydrocarbons will be carried out in a micro-reactor under various reaction conditions. The gas chromatography-flame ionization detector (GC-FID) system will be used to analyze the products' distribution and selectivity. The proposed reaction mechanism and kinetics of the reaction will be established.Conclusion:The study on catalytic cracking of C8 hydrocarbons on acidic zeolites is essential in the development of efficient and sustainable processes for the utilization of C8 hydrocarbons. The results obtained from this study will contribute to the understanding of the reaction mechanism and kinetics, thus, advancing the knowledge on the catalytic cracking of C8 hydrocarbons on acidic zeolites.
