Therefore, it is important to develop effective antiviral drugs. In recent years, MEAN has been shown to inhibit HCV replication and may serve as a potential drug for treating HCV infections. However, MEAN inhibits HCV replication by interfering with TPB expression. Therefore, before understanding the effect of MEAN on HCV replication, we need to have a deeper understanding of the role of TPB in HCV replication. The purpose of this article is to review the mechanism of HCV replication in vivo, discuss how MEAN inhibits HCV replication by interfering with TPB, and to discuss the prospects and challenges of MEAN as a potential drug for treating HCV infections.Keywords: HCV, MEAN, TPB, inhibition, replication, drug, potential
