The “New China, New Olympics” campaign is an example of how China is using sports as a platform to showcase its image globally. This study aims to evaluate the “New China, New Olympics” campaign and the role it played in constructing China’s national identity.BackgroundThe “New China, New Olympics” campaign was launched by China in the year 2001 to host the Beijing Olympics. The campaign was aimed to showcase China’s devotion to the Olympic Games and present China's development to the world. The campaign focussed on the concept of “One World, One Dream,” which emphasized harmony, peace, and unity. The Chinese government aimed to use the Beijing Olympics as an opportunity to enhance its national image globally.MethodsThis study employs qualitative research methods to assess the impact of the “New China, New Olympics” campaign in constructing China’s national identity. Secondary data from credible sources such as academic journals, government publications, and news articles were used to gather information about the campaign.
