Through studying relevant literature, it can be found that with increasing age, the volume, height, width and other aspects of maxilla will change. At the same time, the bone density of maxilla will also decrease, and the incidence of osteoporosis will increase. These changes will have an impact on the field of oral cavity, teeth, etc., such as affecting the morphology of maxillary tuberosity, width of upper buccal sulcus, size of maxillary sinus, etc. Therefore, in clinical practice, it is necessary to consider the impact of maxillary aging on treatment plans such as tooth implantation, orthodontics and repair.This paper will first introduce the anatomy and physiological function of maxilla, and then summarize the morphological changes of maxilla during aging, including volume, height, width, bone density, and the morphology of alveolar ridge and maxillary sinus.
