Nevertheless, I do not side with the idea that phones are going to kill letter writing.For one thing, as the main method of communication for most part of the history, letter-writing has a lot of advantages over the product of modern techology—the phone. Time-consuming as it may be, it conveys one’s feelings and emotions much more sincerely and completely than the phone does. The instant excitment caused by a call can never be in a position to rival the spontaneous joy when reading a letter from a devoted friend. For another, although the phone is being put into more frequent use, in many cases a formal or informal letter, rather than a short call, is required. For instance, nobody would consider it appropriate to invite a distinguished guest to a ceremony by simply giving him a call. In such circumstances, the only and the best choice would be no other than to write a letter of invitation. However, I am not suggesting that we should abandon the phone for letter writing.
