The recent few years have witnessed a growing number of studies on self-translation. Studies on self-translation in China started late, among which research on certain self-translators such as Lin Yutang, Eileen Chang and Xiao Qian forms a vital part. Lin Yutang is not only a world-known scholar, litterateur and linguist, but also an outstanding self-translator with extraordinary bilingual competence.
