Interest in International Women’s Day was pretty low until th e 1960s, when the women’s movement (运动)caused women to think why they weren’t included in the history books! In 1978, a California s chool started Women’s History Week to promote (促进) the teaching of women’s history. It was very popular. So that, in 1981, the American Congress (国会) passed a resolution (决议) making the week a celebration for the whole country! In 1987, a group of women got together with members from museums, schools and libraries to promote the celebration. And the country declared (宣布) the Month of M arch National Women’s History Month that same year!
