In this context, English has become the lingua franca for communication among researchers worldwide. The abstract is the most important part of a paper, and it plays a critical role in summarizing the main findings and attracting readers to the article. Therefore, it is essential to study the writing styles of abstracts in engineering journals indexed by EI in China and the United States.Research Questions:1. What are the characteristics of English abstract writing styles in engineering journals indexed by EI in China and the United States?2. What are the similarities and differences between English abstract writing styles in engineering journals indexed by EI in China and the United States?3. How can we improve the English abstract writing style in Chinese engineering journals indexed by EI?Methodology:1. Selection of Journals: A total of 20 engineering journals indexed by EI in China and the United States will be selected for this study.2. Data Collection: A total of 100 abstracts (50 from Chinese journals and 50 from US journals) will be randomly selected for analysis. The abstracts will be collected from the latest issues of the selected journals.3. Data Analysis: The data analysis will be conducted using content analysis and SPSS software. The content analysis will identify the characteristics and similarities and differences of the abstract writing styles in engineering journals indexed by EI in China and the United States. The SPSS software will be used to analyze the data statistics.Expected Results:1. There will be significant differences in the abstract writing styles between the engineering journals indexed by EI in China and the United States.2.
