Studying the formation and evolution of karst springs is of great scientific significance for understanding the form of groundwater circulation. Taking Liulin Spring in Shanxi Province as an example, this paper explores the main factors that affect the discharge of Liulin Spring through field sampling and indoor analysis. The results show that the Liulin Spring watershed has typical karst landform features, and diabase and barite are the main geological structures in this region. The discharge of Liulin Spring is mainly influenced by the degree of opening of underground water leakage channels, groundwater recharge, seasonal changes, and human activities. This study provides a strong basis for understanding the formation and evolution mechanisms of karst springs in northern China.Keywords: karst spring; discharge; influencing factors; Liulin Spring in Shanxi Province.
