However, traditional translation teaching methods have inevitable problems and shortcomings. Therefore, this study will use the Nida functional equivalence theory as a guide to explore its application effects in English translation teaching in Shanghai's key secondary schools. Taking the Shanghai High School Affiliated to Shanghai Normal University as an example, this study uses a combination of literature analysis and questionnaire survey methods to conduct experiments on English translation courses guided by the Nida functional equivalence theory, and evaluate their effect on students' translation skills and translation awareness. The results show that the Nida functional equivalence theory has certain guiding significance in English translation teaching, and can help students understand the meaning of the original text more accurately, grasp the cultural differences of the target language, and improve translation ability and quality.
