This study aims to explore a new synthesis method of asymmetric bola-type surfactants and their properties in terms of surface tension, emulsifying ability, and solubilization ability.This study will prepare asymmetric bola-type surfactants by etherification of aromatic carboxylic acids with alkyl glycol using platinum oxide catalyst. Optimal synthesis parameters will be determined by analyzing the products under different reaction conditions using NMR, FTIR, and surface tension tests, and their emulsifying and solubilization abilities will be tested.The expected results indicate that the synthesized asymmetric bola-type surfactants have low surface tension and good emulsifying and solubilizing abilities, which can be used for various surface modification and nanomaterial synthesis. Meanwhile, this study provides a reference and foundation for the subsequent research on asymmetric bola-type surfactants.Keywords: asymmetric bola-type surfactants; synthesis; surface tension; emulsifying ability; solubilization ability
