Firstly, a survey will be administered to non-English major college students to evaluate the level of stiffness in their English writing. Secondly, semi-structured interviews will be conducted with a small group of participants to explore the causes of stiffness in their English writing. Finally, the writing texts of participants will be collected and analyzed to investigate the language features and patterns that contribute to stiffness in English writing.Expected Outcomes:This study is expected to contribute new insights into the phenomenon of stiffness in English writing among non-English major college students. The results are expected to identify the major causes of stiffness in English writing and provide useful strategies for reducing it. Additionally, the research findings will help teachers design effective teaching methods to improve students' English writing skills in colleges and universities.
