Thank you!AbstractMargaret Michel’s novel Gone With the Wind described the turbulent social reality during the Civil War in the United States. It described a few youth’s love stories. The heroine Scarlett was born in a wealthy family in the mid—nineteenth century. Her father owned a big plantation in the Southern Georgia, the special history cultural background provided free space for the formation of Scarlett’s characters. Her special family and characters made her have a different understanding to the love. She pursued love bravely and also regarded love as the condition to satisfy her requirements. She married Charles in order to revenge Ashley; she married Frank in order to live; she married Rhett in order to satisfy her vanity. Eventually, she got money, position and other things, but she also lost the most precious thing—love. After reading the story about Scarlett, readers could learn about the formation of her characters as well as the backgrounds and features of her each marriage, which showed her views on marriage. Readers also could understand the American culture and history that reflected the American’s views on marriage in the middle of the nineteenth century.
