This kind of element needs to calculate mother cell coordinates of any blocks’ nodes and this led to the difficulty of using this element
A 2D dichotomy was proposed to solve this puzzle by iterating to gain the mother cell coordinates for arbitrary quadrilateral elements
The progress and formula was also provided
And the validity and utility of this method was proved by building up the model of a given steel box girder
