In this process, the media played an important role. This paper will introduce the role of the media in the political transition of Myanmar since 1988, and analyze its impacts on politics and society. Through data collection and literature review, it is found that the role of the media has become increasingly significant in the political transition of Myanmar since the anti-government protests in 1988. Not only did the media help disseminate information on political and social changes, but they also played a positive role in balancing government power, promoting democratic processes, and advancing human rights protection. However, under the crackdown of the Myanmar government, the media has also been subjected to many restrictions and oppression. This paper argues that in future political transitions, the media's freedom and freedom of expression should be protected and respected to promote the democratization process in Myanmar.【Keywords】Myanmar, political transition, media, democratization, human rights protection.
